6th Grade Global Warming Final Challenge

Folks, for those of you have not yet had a chance to present, you will get to go on Thursday. Here’s the new plan. Our goal is to have this project completed by spring break. In order to do this, we’re going to have to mix it up a bit.

Background: you are now the experts about a specific geographic location as well as a specific global warming issue that is plaguing that area. Think about it this way; it’s a lot like your history fair projects with a location, a topic, and a sub-topic.

Challenge: think about how can you most effectively use the media to tell the world about your place and topic. What would be the best media to use? Why? Think about your message as well as your comfort level with technology. We don’t have a ton of time. You may choose from the following media to tell the world the story of your topic (BIG HINT: this is not an oral report).

  • Newspaper
  • Magazine
  • Television News

Getting Started: With your partner, make a plan. Go back to your notes about newspapers and magazines. Think about if you could do a special edition. You will need to outline your story, gather your graphics, and then put the whole thing together. If you choose TV, remember that you will need to write a script, gather your visuals, film yourselves, and then edit it. On Thursday, be prepared to present your plan.
